View Full Version : Where would you be without a motorcyle?

Seriously, most people our age have no hobbies. They work, drink, take drugs, fight and never exist. Where do think you'd be if you didn't ride bikes? Some of us have no other hobbies. This is all we do. And what do your friends do that have no hobbies. I have old friends that just sit around and get drunk every night. What a life that will lead.

I'd be all fucked up....that is my stress relief and my only hobby
I'd be exactly where I am now only with more money in the bank. But I love my bike and it's the least expensive hobby I have so it's got to stay. Barely costs me anything to keep it. Only insurance.

Since I had my bike stolen, I know exactly where I'd be, being as I am there now. Just basically put more time into other interests, guitar and woodworking.
when i wrecked my F2 at the end of the summer going into my freshman year in college i had nothing. So i turned to weightlifting. Got huge quick, then bought another bike, forgot about it, and became small again. I also surf and fish but they are hard to do during the winter. I could manage without a bike, not that i would want to though.

I'd have a lot more money that's for sure but I've met a lot of good people through this sport. It's better than taking drugs. My friends just sit around at home, play video games and get high all day. It has also motivated me to get good jobs so that I can afford to ride trackdays, etc. And an added benefit it has made me watch what I eat, and exercise a little to get in shape for the track.

Well, since I sold the bike due to not having a garage to keep it in, I have 0 interests except a wedding that my family and my fiancees family hate each other over. I got a playstation 2 to pass the times but I would like to get back into something that makes me feel alive. I go to work every day m-f then head north to Jersey to see my fiancee where we run around getting stuff done. Its never rest, and its seldom fun. I did a 180 in my life in the past year(moving to philly, selling the bike, getting engaged). Its true what is said, "Moving on is a simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard."

Not your fault bro, I do miss having a bike that hasnt changed. Do I miss teh gobs of money I spent on teh thing, hell no. Colleen(my fiancee) is funny, she says whenever a hot chick walks by I notice and smile. But when a motorcycle goes by, I drool. Ill definitely get back on one but I want a house with my own garage before that happens.

Hrmm...My whole fam has been riding motorcycles for their entire lives. My 2 brothers both started riding at age 3 (!) and I started at 7. I hate not riding.
What would I be doing...Hrm...I liked paintball for awhile there, but that got expensive...Same with jetskiing...and sports...Wait a minute, all my hobbies require a shitload of disposable $ :(
Id probly buy a DSM and be on the quest for 11 sec. timeslips.....wait a second :P

i'd have more money, but not a hell of a lot more..
the way i see it the bike is worth it.. the fun factor, the freedom, the hobbie, the friendship with other riders.. whats the point of saving all that money now.. ride while u still can and u got it in you.. lets be happy.
the bike is worth it but its not as taken advantage of as it is if we lived in cali, hawaii or somewhere a lil warmer ya know i mean.
if i lived in a better climate i wouldnt need a car!

Don't know where I'd be but I know it was money well spent. Anything ya do in life costs money, so just because this sport is a little more than average doesn't mean anyone should regret it. Ya can't beat a nice ride through the country roads on a nice sunny day...The feeling you get while you are on it and the pride and joy that comes with it...na I have no regrets, glad I did it, and hell, maybe I'll get a 2nd bike too. We can die tomorrow, no matter what we will always be in debt of some sort, so why not live now and enjoy the time we have here.
Had I not get the bike, I'm sure I'd be in an insane assylum

I really don't think I'd be anywhere different in life, but I say for sure if
I didn't have a bike it would put me back in my parents will. They are so against me ridin, which is probably why I ride more than ever. I always liked foolin around on dirtbikes so when Mike had his ZX9 up for sale a few years ago I asked if I could ride it. I was hooked the first lap around the block. My neighbors think I am nuts but then again but it definitely beats tupperware parties. Most importantly I think riding has created an outlet for me to be my own person. I am so glad I finally did something just for me and I love it!

Well besides my bike i have stuff to do.
I hunt from sept - feb, i work on my truck and generally play around with things.
The bike allows me to escape during the summer when I can't sit in a tree.
The other thing is the fact of all the people i have met because of it. I got on this board and made great friends and found an awesome community.
I mean where can you get people with so many different backgrounds and put them in one place with one love.

If I didn't have my motorcycle, I'd be thinking about getting one. Researching new bikes and what not. But it's not completely my life, and I have other hobbies.
Being that none of my friends that I know from school or meet in the area ride, it's kind of hard for it to completely be my life. The only other people I know who ride are the ones from this site.
Probably would of saved the money or spent it on a vacation or something. WHo knows, but I dont think about that... I love my bike and its my one and only hobby I can have right now.

I'd also have higher blood pressure from getting stuck in traffic in a cage all the time.

bored out of my mind on the weekends during the summer. looking for something else to focus on. spending my money on something else. wasting more money at atlantic city. probably just a little less debt than i have now, although it's not really out of control.
i think i'd be at the same career point that i'm at now. riding doesn't hold me back from pursusing and working hard for my career goals. it only gives me something productive and rewarding to look forward to when the work is over.
every hobby has a cost and i don't think motorcycles cost that much more. initially when you buy the bike, sure...but over time, it's not that expensive. (unless you're one of those guys getting tickets left and right and getting anally fucked by your insurance).

hmm .. if i didnt have a bike .. well that goes two ways .
if i never had quads / dirt bikes i whouldnt know a quarter of the people i know now , so then i have no idea . prob still doin drugs and being useless
if it was just street bikes i whould have my mustang finished , and prob be 1/2 with m bagged and boddy dropped isuzu show truck that i sold 6 months ago ... i should have kept that thing .... but bikes are alot of fun and a great stress relief . if i am having a bad day just go out for a ride and for that moment in time all my problems disappear unless she is on the back of the bike.

I'd probably spend that extra cash on my other hobbies: golf, mt. & road biking/racing, deep sea fishing, trap/skeet shotgun, those are the main hobby cash gobblers.
As for my friends, they don't seem to have as many hobbies as I do, but they have at least one to keep them busy on the side.
