**NYC Rant**

OK..I grew up In NYC, I love it here!! BUT.. the assholes on the streets are making it a miserable place to be!!

There are a few simple unwritten rules that people need to follow..not just on crowded streets, but in life!! Why is this so difficult!!!!

1. If you happen to bump into someone, say "EXCUSE ME" or "SORRY"..not to difficult!!

2. Because there are so many people on the streets, walk with your head up and actually look where you are going!! (This is particularly true for tourists..)

3.When you are walking, is it really necessary to swing your arms like your trying to take off? And when you do Hit someone, and YOU WILL!! ..please refer to rule #1..

4. If you are not capable of multi-tasking or simple coordination, ie..walking at a normal pace and talking on your cell phone, MOVE THE FUCK OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET!

5. DO NOT walk on the street and then decide to come to a dead stop in the middle!! YOU WILL GET RUN OVER!

6. NEW LAW: Human Billboards and assholes handing out flyers are not allowed to stand in the middle of the busiest corners in everyones way.

7. If it's raining..LEAVE THE GOLF UMBRELLA HOME!! Do you really need a giant umbrella to keep the rain off you?

8. Walk on the RIGHT..just as in driving, the left is for passing!! Consider it 2-way traffic. You walk down the right side of the stairs so people can go up..same goes for the streets and doors.

9. Wheely suitcases..if you can not manage the steering of your baggage, PICK IT UP!! I do not need to be run down by your fuckin baggage!

10. DO NOT walk in parallel lines of more than 2 people across so others can't get by you.

11. and last but not least..STOP THE SPITTING!!! IT'S DISGUSTING!

Sorry..I had to vent..Please do your part and help make NYC a pleasant place to be again.. :D

i say "excuse me" or "sorry" everytime out of force of habit...some people might refer to this as having manners, but i heard from a nyc friend that it is one of the ways to tell who is new to the city or is a tourist. slight bumps, brushing is supposed to be expected in a busy city. bleh. that's one reason i will never work and live in nyc. it's too much stress.

I am a NY'er..lived there my whole life, grew up in Manhattan..New Yorker doesn't have to mean RUDE..
I've traveled quite a bit too, and NY'ers have a real shitty reputation for crap like this being viewed as "acceptable behavior" because we've all done it..

First of all, my post wasn't directed towards you, if it was I would have mentioned your name. I was being general. Clearly, you missed that.

Additionally, I never said that the behavior of NY'ers was acceptable, you need to go back and read my post again. What I said was pretty clear, that kind of human behavior you speak about is found in every big city.

You're right, NY'er doesn't have to mean rude, but the fact of the matter is, people are, no matter where you go.

I love New Yorkers. These idiots we're talkin about here are most likely transplants. They're "city people" . You go out to other parts of NY like LI or Brooklyn chances are you won't find as many schmucks like that. 90% of the work I do at my current job is in NYC. i deal with miserable pieces of shit daily at video/graphic editing firms, mortgage companies, etc. these people can't even say good morning. they walk around like zombies oblivious to everything else around them.

I agree with Jen...no matter where I have lived, Florida, Arizona, Iowa (yes there are cities in Iowa too) a city is a city...I guess metropolitan areas and rudeness come hand in hand

12. to the assholes in the Malls DO NOT stop dead to window shop while others are right behind u cuz u will get bumped into then look at us like its our fault .. :fu:

13. if u cant control ur kids in a Mall during Holiday Seasons then DONT BRING THEM, is it my fault ur kids ran out the store in the Mall without lookin and i knocked them over then ur parents tell me to look where im going :fu:

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD the people with baby strollers PLEASE i beg u PLEASE use the ELEVATORS and not the ESCALATORS u take 2 minutes to get on the escalator and 2 minutes to get off... there is a BIG sign on both sides of the escalators that says NO BABY STROLLERS, i can see it now sum dip shit will accidently let the stroller go half way up and then try to sue :fu:
