Hey I was wondering if anyone had one on here? I am going to look at one tonight. Its completely house trained and crate trained. Does anyone know anything about them that would be bad?

Yes, my roommate and I had one when i was in college. He still has him, it was his dog.

Pros:

-Really cool dogs
-Very affectionate...seriously. They love their owners and pretty much anyone

Cons:

-TONs of health problems. breathing problems, eye problems, hip problems, skin allergies, they don't live long usually. Most are under 10 years. More likely 6-8 years.
-They are VERY hard to train. Its not that they are dumb but just strong willed, they do what they want.
-Very unsanitary dogs. They need to be bathed and groomed frequently unless you want to own a smelly mess of a dog. Its not their fault. They drool and then lay in it. They also can have very oily skin, you might have to test out a few foods to see what helps this the best.

All in all, its an AWESOME dog but NOT for everyone. You really need to be super dedicated to own any dog, and this dog is one of few dogs that requires even more.

Having said that you cannot beat the personality of an english bulldog. They are little characters. They are the cutest puppies in my opinion. As adults they don't lose that clownish and make you smile attitude. I remember coming home from class and being in the worst mood and there was Louie our english bulldog. HE would just stand there looking at ya and you couldn't help but laugh.

Despite all the health and care problems, they still are my favorite breed of dog.

They are fantastic dogs ... also watch out for them in the extreme weather, they DO NOT do well in heat so be careful if you want a dog that will go for a run with you, these are not for you

Thanks guys.. I was reading about them online and it said about the health problems that usually it is stuff that does that no require vet visits like the skin infections can be avoided by bathing them frequently. Do you know if this is true?
