Hack precaution

I'll be doing backups this morning and you might experience some problems with the site while I am running them. The mail phpbb site and forum was hacked over the last couple of days and the box was destroyed due to the attack. As a precaution we will be running full backups more often as a precaution. We will be putting the patches in place as soon as they are available.

No, The site of the people who wrote the software was broken into and totally trashed. These ppl who are bent on destroying every site that runs phpbb have been very active with launching a script that renders the entire board useless. They kill the database, the files that are run to display the board. and this latest attack the server the board runs on.

The ppl who are doing this are not interested in the PM's that users of the board are exchanging. But like any other non secure meaning non SSL driven site. do not put any information like your SS number in any messages. The hackers don't care who screwed who the night before and it is doubtfull that they will publish the pictures on the net.
